How does sick pay work for part time workers?
I work as a bouncer in a club in Verbier, and cought
Pneumonia last week so have been unable to work.
I've missed 5 nights, and i'm being told i wont get paid for my missed shifts?
Continued payment of wages in case of illness is mandatory for all employees, not just for full-time employees. The only exception are employment contracts and employment periods for a duration of less than three months.

Many part-time employees work on call. Such employees are entitled to continued payment according to the average wage (often of the last six months, it depends on the kind of work, the average should be typical for the specific kind of work, i.e. without seasonal highs and lows).

I just checked - technically speaking, your employer is entitled to ask for a doctor's note from day 1 if nothing else is stipulated in your contract. However, if it says after 3 or 5 days, then he may not ask for a note from day 1.

I would add an exception: if you are on a disciplinary caution for taking too much "convenient" sick-time off, then a company may ask for a sick note from day 1 or ask you to see a doctor (at the company's expense). But that usually follows verbal and written warnings.

Regarding sickness for care of others, our company allows 3 days per year to take care of sick family members - wife/husband or child.

As our company is pretty rutheless about providing the bare minimum to meet employment requirements, I would suggest that this is probably the minimum requirement. However, I didn't know it was per sickness per patient... I'll have a lawyer check that one

Re: Sick leave

Sort off topic - do one which is sick needs to inform employeer about pleace where he currently is while being sick - meaning that informed employeer about sickness but refused to say where he currently is (eg.sicknes in distant country). What about employer asking via phone for resons of sickness - medical reasons ?

Re: Sick leave

Only if your employer requires that you do so... otherwise, no
However, if you're caught shopping in the mall on your sick day then it's not even really about reporting

Re: Sick leave

Hi ,

Regarding sick leave, do you know if a certificate given by a foreign doctor is accepted (French), or if you need to present a Certificate made by a swiss doctor?

thanks
