By trade, I am an emergency nurse - however, I am up for a challenge of a different work environment if the right opportunity knocks!!!
We are moving to Switzerland in the next few weeks. (My husband has an exciting new job - we both have permits)
I am desperate to work so that I don't miss out on the whole adventure!
I am open to suggestions if anyone has any potential positions - not necessarily nursing!!!!

Don't leave me out!

It would help if you tell us what part of Switzerland you're moving to (preferably what city) and what kind of work you might be looking for. Then if someone knows of an opportunity, they can pass it along.

Good luck in your search!

Re: Give me a job!!!

I think nursing is one of the few professions that is accepted here without total re-qualification. I could be wrong, but I would have thought investigating this possibility was your first option - you will of course have to be able to communicate with patients and other staff alike in more than just sign language...

Re: Give me a job!!!

Hi Rachel,
if you contact some of the agencies/hospitals etc I gave you in the other thread they can help. They have other positions in the medical fields/ not just nursing and if you look at some of the other threads that have been posted in the past few days and follow the links you will find some interesting fields. Some of the threads refer to jobs in bio-medical field but more in the sales/management line so check them out. I found at least half a dozen jobs yesterday- non nursing positions for people with medical background which looked very interesting.I have been in touch with several of them already. There are plenty of jobs out there if you look. Your nursing degree/diploma is automatically recognised. Also check out the local press such as The 24heures, Le Matin, le Tribune de Geneve and search all the usual search engines which have been noted in other threads in this forum. Good luck
Jo

You have not said if you speak French. if not I would say this should be high on your priority list as even any admin/ management job may require this. So you should look at taking some time to perfect the language perhaps before rushing into anything.

Re: Give me a job!!!

Hi Rachel,
You are discussing this on two threads so getting a bit confused. Hadn`t seen your post about the language .Once you feel confident with the language you might want to think about approaching insurance companies, looking for people medical /nursing backgrounds to check claims etc. saw an advert yesterday for same in Lausanne.
Are you interested in working with kids? Some bilingual pre-schools etc about which may be looking for Englsih speakers.
www.children-palace.ch- This is a new one near Vevey, just opened I spoke to the Director a few weeks ago and they were looking for staff. Some others are:
  • Le Jardin des découvertes - Charmonthey 36,1800 Vevey
Or you could try the language schools if you fancy trying teaching English, most might prefer TEFL etc but maybe not. My hubby did this for a while with the no recognised qualification in teaching and worked at several langauge schools.

Check out the websites of any multi/international companies/organisations in the area . Nothing ventured...
Jo

Re: Give me a job!!!

Or you could train to be a Pilates Instructor and join my team

Joking aside, I am looking for people interested in becoming Pilates Instructors or who are already qualified to work in my studio. With your medical background and good people skills, I'm sure you could find Pilates an interesting change in career.

Many people have started to look at a "second" career in Pilates as a balance to their desk bound jobs or as a second career when they have small children and need flexible work hours. If you enjoy working with people and have an interest in movement and the human body why not consider this as an option?

If you would like more information feel free to browse www.symetris-pilates.ch or pm me.
