Nyon or France [Deciding Location!]

Hello all, my first post! Am locating to CH with hubby soon, he has been offered a job in Nyon. I just need a bit of help/advice on where to live. We are looking for a house to rent rather than a flat but not knowing which areas are near to Nyon, i don't know where to begin. Don't really want to be further than 30 min drive (that includes traffic!) away from the office. I also heard that some people live in France as it is cheaper and commute to Nyon every day. Anyone know any nice areas of France i should be looking? Any help gratefully received!

Re: Nyon or France

Divonne is about 15 mins drive away across the border and theres a few other little villages 15-20 mins from Nyon on the french side but Nyon is a grand spot. A couple I know just got a great flat there (a few minutes outside the centre but its small enough) for 1100 francs a month which is great.

Re: Nyon or France

Thanks, i will check out Divonne. The main reason i am asking for other areas near Nyon is that i am unable to find a house for rent in Nyon, only flats. Is this the norm?

As for the tax, i have no idea, maybe someone could assist with that too!?

Hi Newbie,

We've discussed some of your questions at great length in other parts of the forum. This is just the intro area where we get to know you. Try the search function and spend some time reading the various bits of info we already have. Did you see the notice right at the top of this section "Posting your introduction - please read first"?

Welcome to the forum.

Must have been a pretty thorough scouring then if you didn't see the "read this first" bit... Try the search function for some of the terms used in this thread (names of towns, etc) and you'll find them.

Live in France, work in Switzerland?

Hi - am after some info on CHF salaries as might be in a position soon to move (Geneve area) and want to guage the salary simulation I have been given. How reasonable is say 120kCHF for someone in a project mgmt/IT role with 15-20 years experience in this field (beyond university)? Also, how much of a difference is it living in France rather than CH regards rent and other expenses? - Thanks
