Help or advice on getting a Java/J2EE IT job in Zurich

Hi,

I've been over to Zurich a few times recently and fallen in love
with the place, being single and a EU passport holder I thought
it might not be too difficult to find a nice IT job there ...

I just finished a 5 year stint at a major bank and I've got over
10 years of experience as a developer and (what I think), is an
OK CV which I have been sending to agents, but so far I've been
finding it hard to get interviews. What got to me though was that
one agent told me that my CV might be "intimidating" to project
managers in Switzerland (which I found kinda weird).

The CV is really kinda written for the UK market, so maybe there
are differences of style I should be aware of ?

Incidentally I don't speak German (which I guess explains a lot).

So I was wondering if anyone has any advice on finding this type
of job, or if someone can suggest places I could send my CV to.

I also have a TEFL certificate, so I was wondering if I should
come over and try teaching English while I look for a job :-)

Cheers

Do yourself a favour and try these guys : www.stamford-consultants.com

They're brilliant, I was in the same boat as you and they sorted me out.....

Generally, when looking to work in the Banking industry over here, you should have no problem being english. I only speak basic German and manage just fine.

Cheers

Also, contact www.swisslinx.ch check out jobserve as well, like such.

I got my job through them (our company get a few consultants through them)

We recently hired Java programmers, but sadly the company is going .net and culling Java.
