The company which I am going to work for next month, is asking me the AHV number. She says that I worked in Switzerland before so that I will have this AHV account already. It is a green card which my information and the number. But I have never seen it before and where can I find this number ? Should I contact to my previous employer to get the number ?

The following would all have had your AVS number:-

Your employer
Your commune
Your medical Insurer
The local AVS office for the district you were living in.

I found a Policy number on my insurance card.

But is it quite long

That's the number of the policy, not your AVS number. Contact the company, quote that number, and they should be able to find your AVS number.

I don't think it was ever a green card! The old cards were a kind of a grey colour and came with a plastic cover and the new cards are mainly white with a red/grey area on the tops.

In your case it might be worth giving your old employer a call, because in cases where they did not have current details for a person, they sent a copy of the card to the last known employer. Perhaps they still have it...
