Is it possible to work abroad but still keep paying the Swiss AHV?

I mean, if I go abroad, I don't want to get my pension money back, I'd prefer to keep it there, and keep it growing by putting some money each month even if I live, work and pay taxes lets say, in Japan.
Is it possible?

Thanks.

Not sure if that depends on you being a Swiss citizen....

My experience was that you still can pay it in - if the country in question does have a bilateral agreement, you may pay it in Switzerland or have it transferred at the end of your stay.

If there is no agreement, you may pay it in the destination country and still pay some minimal amount to keep your Swiss pension going until you get back - this way you don't have any breaks in your contributions and therefore don't lose out when you are finally eligible.

But - I found it really easy to talk to the AHV/AVS department of your canton directly, they were very helpful!

Disclaimer - this is only experience, no law will or can be quoted to support that argument.

I am not Swiss, I have B permit. The country in question has no bilateral agreements.

not sure about the swiss thing. but at teh moment you pay a percent and your employer pays a percent .1.75 think. to receive the minimum salary when you retire you must pay your contribution aswel as the employer i think the minimum is 6000 sfr a year not sure. and you will have to pay everyyear till retirment if you miss a few years you may forfit the monthly benifts when you retire. call the ahv buro and ask

You can retain your vested benefits in Switzerland. But you cannot make any further contributions.

Not quite AVS, but.... I know if you leave your employer and the country you get your pension back n cash. Not sure why you would want to keep it here given the interest payed in CHF is very very low unless you really plan to come back.

If you are a NON-EU coming back maybe difficult...
