| | | Korean looking for a job in Switzerland !
Hello Everyone,
I would like to ask for help in order to give a hand to my Korean friend who is looking for a job in Switzerland.
She lives in Seoul / South Korea and is really willing to come living and working in Switzerland. She goes to Soong-Sil University and will be done with her studies at the end of the year. She has been studying Advertising and Promotion, Marketing Management, Management Information System, Personnel Management and Business strategy. She speaks Korean (of course) and English.
If anyone of you would know about a job opportunity in Switzerland that corresponds to her qualifications or have some tips for helping her (contact, website, agency, etc)
Please contact me !
Any kind of help is much appreciated !!! Thank you.
Cedric

If she does not have a EU passport I'm afraid her chances of getting something are close to zero.
You really need to be a specialist in your field to get a valid working permit to stay here if you are non-EU.

The unemployed are everywhere here in EU and Switzerland.
How can a Korean can find job in CH without any linguistic knowledge in German and French, and without resident/work permits in addition?
Sorry to disappoint you but you really need to tell her the truth.

In view the op comes from Massonnens-Fribourg-Neuchatel area, one could possibly assume French may be just as useful as German.

And this is pretty bad if you are looking for a job in advertising (and there are not that many jobs at the moment anyway...).
I guess her chances are slim, but she could try to use her weakness as a strength and look to find a job where being Korean is an advantage. I believe some trade chambers are always good to call. Either they might have an opening themselves for a junior business person or helpt to find employers dealing with Korea.

It would help of course, I'm Swiss and my mothertongue's French, I used to understand German but not any more, if you don't use it, you lose it ! And here I am working in French and English, even with Germany I speak English.
Korean people are really into studies and learning French doesn't scare her at all !
Don't worry, she already knows the truth.

Hi, I don't mean to sound unrealistic or anything. But. If she's really determined, she can find her way here. I know tons of people with jobs here who don't really speak French (I'm in GE).
Also, I'm considered non-EU for like a year or so more (yeah, waiting for 2011 like salvation XD), but I'm really determined to find a job and get a permit. And I don't get why I shouldn't. It's good for the state, good for statistics, good for everyone. I'm willing to earn a little less and pay taxes and spend my money on good Swiss products ;D See?
So a piece of advice for your friend: it's a hard world here (I guess everywhere nowadays) but if she's determined and likes it here and really wants to stick it through thick and thin -- well, it's possible!
Good luck! And don't ever get pessimistic. That doesn't pay off |

There is this part of lyrics that I love:
"If you don't live for something, you'll die for nothing"
"Defeatist - you and I will never be the same"
"What I have in my heart - I'll take to my grave"
I keep my fingers crossed | |
