I also read somewhere that in these tough times most countries take that approach.
Anyone heard similar opinions, thoughts? | |

Definitely!
Even in the UK, even if its sometimes probably "unconscious", the recruiters still consider your nationality.
For example, I got asked 3 times in 1 month if I wanted to "come back home".
The problem is it clearly shows on my CV that I lived in UK for 5 years, obtained Honors Degree, Master Degree, and have worked for 3 years.
But yes I have foreign nationality and it's considered (if not: it's a problem?).
The worse is I could get "local nationality" for about 800pounds because after 5 years of continuous living, I can pretend...
For Switzerland, my job hunting experience show no much responses, so I know the market is very tight, and I can understand if they don't want to bother with paperworks...
On the contrary:
The HR from big swiss group told me for "European citizens" it's really not a problem the paperwork, its very easy to work in Switzerland. (?)
The companies are very careful with hiring, so it also explains a few things!
