| | | Amount of Holidays in CH
Dear EFers,
I tried the search option and did not find anything about this. Does anyone know how many holidays does one get in CH? Does it depend on the company or is it regulated by the government?
Thanks
Angela

Hi Angela,
Yes, it does depend on the company. However, 21 days is the norm if you're working 100%. (That's working days, so basically you can take a month of vacation). This number tends to rise if you stay with one company for 3-5 years.
Greets,

It is often related to age. Upto 40 years, you get 25 days, 40-55 27 days, and >50 30 days, as far as I remember.

There is the law and there are norms. Law is generally 4 weeks (more if you are young or old). Norm is 4-5 weeks depending on industry and type of work.

Thank you guys!
My husband has just been offered a job and he has to work 42 hours a week (not sure this is standard) and they give him 20 days of holidays, I almost fainted, he has not signed yet. Do no tknow if this is normal...will search working hours though, silly me did not do it |

Worked 42 hours in Geneva. Got 21 days paid holiday and 3 'sick' days.

And holidays! Hah! Who needs holidays? An hour at Christmas to worship and provide thanks to Our Lord for our wonderful lives, that's all we ever needed ...

My husband has just been offered a job and he has to work 42 hours a week (not sure this is standard) | | | | | Sounds pretty normal to me.
And to balance my 13 weeks' holiday, I do tend to work somewhere between 50 and 55 hours a week.
Not that that's particularly unusual, of course. It's just that nobody ever believes me... | | This user would like to thank Dougal's Breakfast for this useful post: | |

Thanks guys I will not pester husband then. I am a bit sad though because I have one more week than him (plus I have extra hours from working extra time)...I guess one week holiday will have to be done without him *evil grin*.

So 20 working days = 4 weeks
it's the standard
