Student summer jobs

Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you know of students finding English speaking jobs in the summer in Lausanne or the surrounding area. I visit Switzerland quite often on vacation but I am planning to move there after I finish my university studies in Canada. I don't speak French but I want to start learning some and my plan is to live in Switzerland this coming summer during my 4 months off. Since 4 months is a long time I also wanted to find a job there. I don't really care what kind of a job but something that I can make some pocket money for going out etc. I have done many student jobs in Canada and now work for a bank as a student but I'm lookin for anything pretty much. I also have bartending experience from working in some nice clubs in Canada. So my issue is if it is possible for a student like me with no French to get a student summer job in Suisse. I am planning to attend some French language classes as well and perhaps make some French speaking friends that will help me practice my French.

Hi Jack,

It is possible to find summer job in english near lausanne. But there aren't many and I would think most of them are either office jobs, child care, dog walking, that sort of thing. Maybe in the hotels. It depends also on what sort of working visa you have (or not).

My company often hires a summer student or two for admin type work. Salaries can be anywhere from 0 to 3000 CHF a month depending on area.

Hi, I am a Serbian guy living in Lausanne and studying at EPFL. I would like to find a job in June just to pick up some pocket money for travelling. I am not very fluent at French so I would like to find some job where I could also learn French. Do you have any info how to find a job that would suite me.

How big are the payrolls?

I'm going to be attending the University of Bern for a Master's program. I'm applying for my student visa this week, but I am also in need of finding a job during the school year to help pay for school expenses.

How would I go about finding jobs like nannying, dog/house sitting, babysitting, hotels, etc that accept English-speaking students?

I've only just begun to learn German, so I'm definitely not proficient enough to even attempt to use basic German at work.
