NY rates

Hello All,

Quick questions, what is a general decent hourly rate to have a life in NY as a contractor please. Information urgently needed. Danke schön

Depends where you want to live. If Manhattan, I would say $75 is the bare minimum, especially if you have short term (=expensive) housing. Otherwise, you could live pretty well with $50 in NJ, Queens, Brooklyn, etc.

Yes, I meant gross rates. You might also want to nudge them up if you will be resident in NYC for tax purposes, because the city imposes income tax (~5% I think).
