descent salary for Swiss standards????

Hi everybody!!

I know that this question more or less has been posted several times……Apologise..

I am working in an insurance company in Zurich as a claim handler, since 2 years. I have a bachelor degree and masters in law. Could you please advice what can be considered a descent salary for Swiss standards for the said qualifications, because I have the impression that I get much less than I should. I have tried 3 or 4 of salary calculators; but I cannot find the answer

No particular benefits except of the standards, e.g. paid vacations

Also, is it any practise that Swiss people for the same position and same qualifications take more than the expats??

Tahnksssss in advanceee

Its a bit on the low side. My brother in law works for AXA doing the same as you do and gets 80k gross. He is with them since Jan 2007 thou.

It depends a bit on the marketplace, too, right? The economy still has a foot in the toilet, oder?

Re: descent salary for Swiss standards????

they pay you 12x or 13x?

But overall, the salary is about correct, for someone with 2 years experiences. May i ask where you earned ur two degrees, if it is from CH, or some prestigious uni, they may pay higher. Usually with a french degree, for example, they pay bit less

Re: descent salary for Swiss standards????

For somebody educated in law; doesn't sound too good to me. Move industries; become a Solicitor or go into house Conveyancing; although perhaps the latter is simply the former; just a specialist.

Perhaps less job satisfaction, but certainly a great deal more money!

I am not sure if I should take any friday afternoon thread serious but let me just tell you that most likely the cleaning lady in your office earns more than you.

It doesn't matter how well educated you are, you're working as a claims handler, and that dictates your salary.

Re: descent salary for Swiss standards????

I find it hard to believe that any decent insurance company in Zurich could pay graduates less than 65k per year.

I think it is a bit low seeing as you have already been there 2 years.

Unless of course, there is a colleague of yours sitting in the same office doing the same job WITHOUT those qualifications, then you are in the wrong job...
