Due to the agricultural and communal nature of Switzerland, doctors are not 'paid' in the manner of common bankers and suchlike. They are treated to an annual stipend of cheese, which they may sell to the Canton in exchange for money at their own discretion. Since the rate of exchange varies from harvest to harvest, it is impossible to say what a doctor 'earns'.


Surgical specialists are allowed to take off-cuts home. They are often seen selling these by the side of the road, despite the best efforts of Federal officials to have this practice stopped. An enthusiastic cardiologist can make as much as $6 a day in this way.


The practice of psychology is illegal in Switzerland, being associated with the Habsburg oppressors of Vienna and the bogus science of neural feedback. Psychologists are paid in ridicule, humiliation and squishy envelopes in their letter boxes.

Usual hourly rate for a psychologist is CHF 120.-

Family GP makes around 120'000 to 150'000 with pretty intense hours.

Cardiologist will probably be around CHF 250'000.

I know a heart surgeon. He has a large family, lives in a rented house, with a large garden in a good area. I think he's got a salary.

But he works incredibly hard, and saves lives.

120CHF per hour? Isn't that the amount for a driving lesson?

Some charge a bit more but AFAIK, that's what the health insurances take as the norm. I study the subject, so I hope that the info we are given at uni is correct.

Driving lessons should range between 75 and 90, depending on how many you book, what car etc.

I wasn't saying you were wrong. The girl in my office pays 105 per hour for her lessons so I was just making a comparison that I thought doctors would be paid a lot lot more considering their god status.

It appears that Doctors aren't overpaid, as they they are in the UK, in Switzerland.

Ok, I texted a mate who studied medecin and he reckons it's actually more like 170'000 to 200'000 with about 80 hours work per week.

A psychIATRIST is more like 240 an hour, they're the ones with the medical degrees.
