Urgent question about job change...

Is it possible to overlap the 2 contracts for 2 or 3 days by law?

Re: Urgent question about job change...

Do either of the contracts state that you specifically cannot do this?

I imagine, though, that your employment handbook at the NEW company will state that while you are working there you can not ALSO be employed elsewhere ... and especially not with a company that competes with them ... so perhaps by having the 2nd contract in place you will be in violation (for 3 days) of the employee rules and could get FIRED (within those 3 days).

Incidentally, 3 days is also the amount of time some companies allow you to be SICK (per week) before needing a note from the doctor to return to work. Hmmm .... ?!?!?

Without the permission of your current employer it is very unlikely, most employment contracts require you to have permission from your employer before you can contract for employment with another employer during the same period.

Also if your current employer requires you to complete your contract with them right up to the last day, which they are entitled to do, then you would in a difficult position with your new employer as well...

Oh and before you ask, if you are sick or have other unscheduled absences during the notice period they can also require you to make up the time as well.....

Good luck with that,

Jim.

Re: Urgent question about job change...

good point, thanks.
Perhaps I'll overlap less than half day..., not much in the end and they'll close an eye
