Hi all,

I'm not long in Zürich and have a friend visiting for the weekend - wondered whether anyone could recommend a couple of lively (better still, raucous) bars or nightclubs that we could head to.

All advice appreciated - thanks in advance!

Search for Stairs, just out of Town.

Otherwise, take a walk down Langstrasse. Something there for everybody.

Also check out Sugar Lounge in Zurich Center. It's a pretty neat place to hangout/drink/dance and plays different styles of music on different nights. Have been several times and always had a good night out with the crew.

Don't do it the DJ's suck! Plus usually full of Jailbait...

When everywhere else has booted you out, Meyers Bar at Lochergut is the only place to go. And, if you're lucky, the 24-hour bakery bar on Zweierstrasse will keep you topped up until Bubbles opens at 10am. (Only been lucky once so far, mind you.)

This city is full of tiny, crazy bars. There's one more or less opposite Bahnhof Enge that is the size of a toilet but constantly full and loud. Stay away from the big commercial venues and find somewhere obscure and kooky and you're guaranteed some craziness.

The DJ's at Mascotte are really iPods on "shuffle", but to each his own.
