The Thai Restaurant under Cornavin (Geneva) Station: where's it gone?

Does anyone know what happened to the Thai restaurant under the TGV tracks at Cornavin Station in Geneva? I know they were being closed down so that the place could be renovated, but did they move somewhere?

The ladies who ran it weren't in the first flush of youth, so maybe they simply retired. I hope not.

I shall ask around, i knew they were closing but am not sure if they were moving. The girls were great fun, I think one of them went home and the other married her Swiss boyfriend.

Re: The Thai Rstaurant under Cornavin (Geneva) Station: where's it gone?

Unfortunately, it is not going to open again. I talked to a friend this morning and he recommends a new place in Les Grottes in the "Schroumphs" building. Noi the cook from the other place now works there. Sorry, I don't have the address - but may wander in that direction when out gallivanting this afternoon with my neighbour and his dog. It's just across the road from Parc Geisendorf.

Perhaps a EF Geneva outing could be arranged? Just don't invite those Zurich retrobates......!!!!! (just kidding, I have two couches just aching to be slept on!!)

Gata, the restaurant under the station is where I took Lana for a thank you meal for driving me and the cat all over Geneva to the vets when he was on death's doorway. I remember sitting in the back of the car on the first journey - not a peep. Next journey - a widdle meow - next journey a fully blown Pavarotti!!

Oh no..What's up with parks and dealers here? Aggravates me to no end. One finds a bit of greenery in the city and can't even take the bub there coz there are dealers. Our green areas is slowly filling with them, too.

Re: The Thai Restaurant under Cornavin (Geneva) Station: where's it gone?

And you know the sad thing about that is that the Parc Geisendorf had their Fete de la Rue just this past weekend. Great family day out with food, drink and music.

But is is also known as a hangout place for druggies. Unfortunately. It is a great park, but not a place i would go after dark. I was told, only last night, that you meet the dealer at the train station and he says ok lets get the number 6, 10 or 19 up to the park and then you'll get your dope. So they don't deal at the station anymore.

Why the hell don't the police do anything about it??

My friends and i laugh (in a strange way) that in Geneva all the drug dealing is done within a stones throw from a police station.

Gata, Jimmy is doing just great. Becoming rather rotund. and he's not had any health problems for almost a year now. Apart from vomiting his cat hair on my newly made bed!! My problem now is that there is a young cat climbing the ladder and eating all Jimbo's food, usually at 4 a.m when fights start. And i have to clap my hands and shout. My neighbours must love me!!!

That's a new one for the "I hate noise" brigade!! My downstairs neighbour systematically shouts and claps her hands at 4 a.m!!

Re: The Thai Restaurant under Cornavin (Geneva) Station: where's it gone?

hahaha....Well, the sad fact is, a friend with a baby moved right next to a park, the one really close to Cornavin and at a river, so thrilled she will spend days in the park. But it is filled with dealers, and she was there once or twice. I am not sure if it is the Cornavin area, must be.

And our town we have a green little bit and another one I like, and you see now dealers creeping in, it's crazy they just can. Always in a pack. And a couple local creche walks kids there. I don't think they will last long, Geneva is one thing, but small neighboring towns, much easier oversight. But I do not like it.

EF meet up, yes!

On the Cornavin reconstruction note, I am curious what stores will be there and services.

close to Cornavin and at a river... I can't think where that might be.... St Jean maybe? ... it doesnt sound like this one where the women were found.

and yes.. sad fact dealers are all over the place , more so in the summer ( they crawl out from under whatever rocks they hide under )

There is a park behind the station, they often do little jazz festivals etc. Can't remember the name.

In the end I didn't walk in Geisendorf. But shall do tomorrow or Monday to find the name of the Thai restaurant. And we can sort out some sort of meet up.

But what is the problem with Cornavin ? I recently discussed the problem with a cousin in Bern. It is obvious that Bern HB by the Bernese is not really accepted as an integral part of the "inner city of Berne" while Zch-HB by most ZH-ers IS regarded as integral part of Zch-dtwn. How is the relationship of the Genevois with Cornavin in modern times really
