Basel Zoo is open til midnight on Saturday 2nd July. Not sure if all the animals will be asleep but I think it might be fun to be allowed in when its not normally open to the public. I'm not sure about fees - couldn't figure that out - possibly normal admission?

We went to this a couple of years ago expecting to see some different activity from the animals. Didn't really work out that way. They don't put in any extra lights, so you can't actually see much. Because there were people walking around, the lions went into huning mode and hid behind the rocks watching everyone (you could just see their heads before it got too dark).

They do, however, offer some tours with the staff leading them. If you can understand German, this may be interesting (not sure since we didn't/don't).

We were going to go about 8pm so it will still be light for a while. I also asked about admission and there are reduced prices after 5pm - 10chf for adults.
