| Re: Family friendly restaurant Basel
Try Vapiano's which is on Sternengasse 19, not far from the Bankverein stop which has plenty of trams going past. Its a pizza/pasta place which works a bit like a buffet but everything is made fresh to order, you go up and choose your dish and they make the pasta while you wait, or give you a flashing buzzer for the pizzas. It doesn't have a kids menu but if you ask they make rabbit or fishy shaped kids pizzas and, last Saturday at least, the kids ate free! It's quick and friendly and the staff all speak great English. Its a bit more relaxed than Picobello's (Shifflande), where they can sometimes be a bit grumpy if your kids are making a noise. Vapiano's doesn't have a play area, but they have a massive bowl of gummy bears to help yourself to on the way out- what more could you want!
Otherwise the Manor restaurant on Claraplatz or Pfauen restaurant on Freiestrasse have play areas for small kids and usually a children's plate meal. Hope that helps,
