Dapur Indonesia - Restaurant

Hi all,

I've just learnt about an Indonesian restaurant in Oerlikon called Dapur Indonesia. I have not been there myself but came accross it on tripadvisor. Has anyone been?

As per the info on their site, http://dapur-indonesia.ch/ , the owner is a hotel school graduate and the place serves authentic Indonesian grub. Having gone out with a gorgeous Indonesian girl for many years and having eaten so much Indonesian food, I am really hoping that this place is the real deal.

I can't wait for my first Indonesian rendang in years.

Many thanks

Thank you!!
Lumpia, rendang... brilliant.
Now we just have to convince them to do a rijstafel and I'd move in.

Re: Dapur Indonesia - Restaurant

We went and definitely recommend it. The service was great, as was the food. The rendang, ayam bakar betutu and sate were all excellent. It's a small restaurant and we'd suggest making a reservation. Thumbs up for this one!

Re: Dapur Indonesia - Restaurant

We finally made it to Dapur over the weekend and it was superb. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Not only was the food amazing (real Indonesian), the service was absolutely brilliant. The server, Cathy, was a delight as was the owner/chef Diane. Proper hospitality.

If you like Chicken Sate, you've got to try Dapur. The chicken was tender, juicy and char-grilled and the sate sauce was sheer heaven. Unlike most places around these parts, the sauce was not watered down and wasn't over-sweetened. The beef rendang was meltingly delicious and you could taste the intense flavours developed over hours of cooking. The crispy duck with peanut sauce was another remarkably prepared dish. We had no complaints whatsoever.

If you like spicy food, tell them and they will make it hot. If not, they will make it mild yet it will still have the lovely rich and exotic Indonesian flavours.

The décor is really nice, Asian chic, and the place is small and intimate.

Don't worry if you've never had Indonesian food before, there is something for everybody at Dapur and they will take good care of you.

I can also vouch that the food is excellent. I've been a few times with big groups, so have managed to try everything on the menu and it's all delicious. Even the little mini super salty fish dish.

Re: Dapur Indonesia - Restaurant

Went with a few Malaysian friends and enjoyed our dinner there. Would recommend the Gurame fish, Ayam bertutu (chicken) and a duck dish (sorry forgot its name). The beef rendang was OK, could've been spicier (and I don't mean the hot factor). Order the Belada little fishes only if you like spicy salted fish. Nice decor and good service.

I've had a great meal at Dapur too. The beef redang, "Indonesian" style (i.e. pretty damn pungent), was superb. My wife really enjoyed her chicken satay. Service was excellent. Chef came out at the end to see if we'd enjoyed it. We had

Not in my opinion mate, well at least not in comparison with other restaurants in Zürich.

The prices for main courses range from 22 - 32 francs which is the norm for main dishes in mid-scale restaurants of practically any cuisine in Zürich. In addition, the hospitality is great, the service and attention is refreshingly personal and friendly and the portions are quite large. I can name many restaurants in Zürich that are pricier yet fall short of the quality that Dapur provides. I think the prices are rather reasonable to be honest!

Yes, yes...but that's without starters and drinks. So you're basically looking at at least 40 per person...that doesn't sounds well priced to me for some average Insonesian food.

Re: Dapur Indonesia - Restaurant

Maybe if you eat in the restaurant itself. I did the take away and found the Rendang and Nasi Goreng, although very good (rendang lacking heat though), quite pricey at CHF 40. Especially considering the rather small portion of rendang. But taste-wise, it was excellent!
