Thanks and rep, to the one who suggestion I follow, in advanced for suggestions a Indian and/or Mexican restaurant(s) in Basel.

This is for something special with the wife, without the kids* (we both will surely miss them after 30 minutes). My preference is something with a river view.

*If you dont count the 8 month fetus kicking around inside of my wife.

It's not Indian or Mexican but for river views with lovely food you can't beat Der Vierte König:

For good Mexican food I would go for:

On a side note, Congratulations CK on the impending arrival!!! It doesn't seem so long ago that I met your newborn at one of Begga's famous BBQ's!! You and your wife are either very brave or totally bonkers adding to an already impressive brood!!!

I've heard people say that the most passable Mexican restaurant is Hacienda San Pedro. You could also try Cafe Tacuba which occasionally serves Mexican food. There's also La Piratita with Mexican Fast Food.

I've tried La Fonda(mostly Tex-Mex), despised by most Mexicans but liked by many n00bs

The best idea is to cook Mexican at home yourself.

The restaurants have been an utter disappointment.

Off topic - but I think the Spanish place (nearly Mexican ) is good: Tapas del Mar Spalenburg near Marktplatz.

Tapadera is the most Swiss Mexican i you can come accross though, its not bad food, its just not mexican.

For Indian i second Mandir, as noted by mimi above.

we went a few months ago, the food was crap. The majority of the starters were out of packets, the mains were bland.

Hmmand the Bombaylassi cut the excellently spiced curries well.
