| | | Switzerlands best pub
I think it would be good to have a poll to votes for switzerlands best irish / british pub. The best I have come across so far are Pickwicks in Geneva and Luzern with Paddys in Zurich coming a distant third. Any other suggestions?

She said her husband was in Ireland, went back when he was there, he did not speak a word of Irish to me. The 3rd time, they still did not recognise us as previous customers. We did not meet any English or Irish customers there. Not been back since.
Dack Rambo good idea this thread - thanks

In Zurich "Oliver Twist" they say a Big Hi every time you go in and
have lots of sports to watch , the food is OK the beer is good and the patrons are a lot of fun. Pub quiz night on Monday is always full and Sarah always make you feel as if you have just come home.
Then there is McGees, but I think they have the worst food in Zurich.

Though it's not an "Irish Pub" by definition it's run by Irish folks- Cafe du Cerf in Neuchatel.

The Cask and Barrel, Broughton Street, Edinburgh.
You didn't specify it had to be in Switzerland in the OP.
Cheers,
Nick

The Oliver Twist was the base pub of the Zürich Hash House Harriers - very welcoming. Then the management changed in 2010 and they treated us like dirt - a bit rich given the amount of business we were bringing. These days it gets the bargepole treatment.
On the other hand, Devi's bar in Wiedikon may not a faux Irish / Brit pub but the owner welcomes us with open arms and will even be setting runs for us in the near future.
Cheers,

I can't afford a posh wine bar, so by de facto it's pubs all the way. But I do have to say, in general, the best out of Ireland and England pubs I have been to were in New York or Boston.
And I wish I could find any place remotely like that here !

Ok, it's not cheap. But I can feel more comfortable with 1 franc tip at a pub then a percentage tip at nicely deco'd, with everyone paying attention to my every detail. In a pub, I am like any other Tom Dick and Harry. I might even come off as an ass for giving to high of a tip in a pub.
So that makes the cost of the Guiness v. Amarone pretentious wine more balanced.
In any case, the Guinness does taste like they refile twice the carbonation thru it then a can of coke at the pubs here.
