Good morning!

So, I am looking for a nice bar to take a date out for a drink. What I want is a quiet place, without too many people or too loud music. (i.e. the exact opposite of "The Great Escape" at Rippone)

Place: between Lausanne and Morges, including these areas.

It's not important to have nice view from there, but it would certainly be nice if it were close to places with nice view (such as Place du Château in Lausanne).

I would also appreciate it if you knew whether it is easy to go by car and park it around there.

For a cool evening with (simple) drinks, great atmosphere, and live high quality jazz music, try Chorus.

There is enough time before the gig, during the group's break, and after the gig to have conversation. The cave where the music is played is cozy and atmospheric and sort of romantic. Then there is a short walk to Pont Bessier to view the Cathedral in the old cite, post gig.

As I see, there are from time to time various concerts organized, which seem pretty cool.

I assume that on days/hours when no concert is held, the place is still open, without any entrance fee, right?

Not really sure if it's the most quiet place, but the environment is really unique and it's at King Size Pub at Lausanne Flon. They have imported Irish beer from the tap, live music and usually a good selection of music on the playlist. Just avoid Friday and Saturday Nights, you'll be standing at the door most of the night.

Another good place to take a date out, is a bit more fancy, but from my experience, guaranteed to show results...it's the LP's bar at the Lausanne Palace...You don't have to rent a tuxedo to get in, but torn-up jeans would be frowned upon.

i find all of lausanne's bars crowded and noisy. two that, depending on when you get there, are *less* crowded and noisy are the Bar Tabac on rue beau sejour

and, not too far off, the Standard Cafe on Rue de la Grotte . I used to try one then the other depending on the crowd situation.

Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays are out at the Standard as far as crowds are concerned but the Bar Tabac seems to be slightly less crowded on those nights.

I also like the Cafe des Mousquines but I'm not sure what the new policy is (whether you can just have drinks, or if you have to eat there). From there it is a short walk to the Parc de Mon Repos.

Well depending on how much you would like to impress her, we live in the Lauvaux, there is a place called Le Deck at the Le Baron Tavernier in Chexbres, about 15 minutes from Lausanne (we also take visitors there to impress). If you take the autoroute there is an exit for Chexbres. The view is incredible over the lac and mountains and it is sophisticated. If you call ahead maybe you can reserve a tent like space for the two of you that looks out over the view. There is parking right there. We love it for a drink and try to get a time when the sun is setting. The food is better in the restaurant at the Tavern (in fact it is one of the best restaurants we like) than outside on the deck. So if you decide to have dinner go to the tavern. You can google and check it out on line. Also good for a nice romantic walk.....
