Raclette in Geneva?

I'm looking for recommendations for restaurants which serve raclette in Geneva. Friends of mine are transiting through Geneva on their way back to the US tomorrow night, and that was their meal request. I'd like to avoid the overly touristy places if possible.

Also, one of them is pregnant - is it ok for her to eat viande des Grisons (or any other dried meats)? I have no idea about these things, and have found conflicting information on google.

Re: Raclette in Geneva?

I may get my Swiss citizenship taken away for this, but my favorite is a place in nearby France (10 minutes by car) in St. Julien called La Table à Raclette:

It's not touristy at all, in fact you get a lot of blue collar guys during the day. Not sure how it is in the evening. The do a lot of stuff besides raclette, but it's their specialty, they do in several varieties, and they do it well. Service is a little slow at times, but Monday evening you should be OK, just make sure it's open.

Re: Raclette in Geneva?

You could also do Les Armures in the old town. Known for its fondues but also has raclette. Has a mix of locals, business people and tourists.

Location: http://www.hotel-les-armures.ch/fr/situation.php

Link for restaurant + menu: http://www.hotel-les-armures.ch/fr/carte-restaurant.php

Menu with prices - click on the link "La carte des mets"

Er... I've never seen raclette at the Cafe de Soleil. Would recommend it for its fondue, atmosphere, cheerful service etc, but not for raclette. Oh and remember they only take cash!

Re: Raclette in Geneva?

Was going to recommend the Café du Soleil - great place, and best fondue, but no raclette. Great Tomme poellée though. It is the nearest to a Swiss village style café you'll get in Geneva.

Re: Raclette in Geneva?

Tried Cafe du Soleil for the first time two weekends ago.

It was so delicious that we went back for more fondue only seven days later!

If you go, be sure to make a reservation as it is a very popular place!

Sorry - I just saw this. We were going to go to Auberge de Saviese (http://www.aubergedesaviese.ch) but had to cancel our plans. Where did you end up going?
