Groceries - Home delivery service?

Hi All,

Does anyone know if Coop do home deliveries, in the same way that the large supermarkets do in the UK?

(I have searched the whole forum but not found the answer. Apologies if it does lurk somewhere. I'd appreciate a link if it does!)

Thx,

JC

http://www.coopathome.ch/b2c_coop/b2...do?language=fr
(in French or German)

Otherwise there's http://www.leshop.ch/ from Migros which is in German, French & English

Re: Groceries - Home delivery service?

I've used the Migros home delivery a few times and it's been very reliable. It also helps if you are ordering heavy items when you live on the 4th floor and don't have a lift!!

The best thing is you can also order things that they don't have in the regular shops....like cosmetics from Boots and English food (although the variety is nowhere near as great as shops like www.britshop.ch).

The downside is a lot of the time you need to order items in bulk which can be annoying when you only want 1 bottle of ice tea and not 12!!

There is even a place that does organic food delivery, at least the veggie part, you get a box with seasonal stuff here.

I've always wanted to participate in one of these. I know there is one in Geneva but they won't deliver to Lausanne. Does anyone know of one in Vaud?

Fantastic - thanks for the responses. The biggest waste of my time is pushing trolleys around supermarkets, so this is a big help.

I saw something along these lines at the Comptoir Suisse. It was a cooperative where you had to agree to help out in the garden for a certain number of hours a year and pay a small sum in return for regular organic veggie boxes. I thought it was a nice idea and something I'd like to do, however I seem to have managed to lose the flyer that I picked up and now I can't remember the name or even where it was exactly (except that it was somewhere between Lausanne & Morges)...

Sorry, I know that's really not at all helpful, but maybe someone else here knows what I'm talking about and could remind me of the name of the organisation so that I can follow it up?

Thanks in advance.

But hopeful!
I'll do some research.

As of ten minutes ago (and courtesy of google) I know of two:

Le Jardin Potager seems to be the more established one in the region. Cost is 850.- CHF a year for 45 small baskets, and membership requires three half days of work in the gardens. You must collect the weekly basket at a specified distribution point in town.

Les Jardins du Flon just got going a few weeks ago. Yearly membership for 32 small baskets is 700.-CHF. There is no requirement to help out in the gardens, and although there is a central distribution point in Flon, they do mention the possibility of home delivery by bike courier (although I'm not sure of the cost of this).

For reference, here's a list of similar gardens offering fresh organic vegetable baskets throughout Suisse Romande.

Thanks. I just got back to the computer so didn't get a chance to research, but I thank you for doing it!

Re: Groceries - Home delivery service?

I just wanted to add that the available products depend upon your postal code, and they can change from week to week. The prices between coop and le-shop (migros) are pretty much the same though.

With coop, you can set your own time for delivery (from some choices) with migros it's generally the next evening after your order. The coop has a more varied wine selection - especially if you're looking for something that's inexpensive but doesn't taste like lighter fluid to cook with.

I go back and forth between the two - just depends what I want - it is really great for bottles of stuff and household supplies, especially if you live in a walk-up, on a hill and/or don't have a car.

Thanks for the info on the cooperatives. Now if only they had them in Bern....

Thanks Heather! (Sorry, I didn't see this before, haven't been online much).
Le Jardin Potager is the one that I was thinking of!
