| | | Evening Dinner Suggestions in Zurich
Hi Guys
Just wondering what would be a nice place to take my visiting parents for dinner tonight. We had a great meal in the Zeughaus Keller last night and something along the same lines (style of food/price) would be great.
I've eaten in the Kronenhalle before and it was great but can't remember the prices. I know its a bit more pricey but are we talking second mortgage here?
Cheers
B
Ps they are meeting my girlfriend for the first time so somewhere nice and informal too |

Hi,
A good idea is the Aqua Bar at the lake close to Enge. There you get a great view on the lake and the lights of the city. But you should reserve a table.
Another great place with view is the Lake Side Casino.

Hate to share this place, as it's my favourite local, cosy restaurant, but... try Restaurant Miracle, on Fröhlichstrasse, Seefeld. Walk along the lakeside from Bellevue, you'll be there in under 20 minutes and have a good appetite!
Best pizza in town, Italian-Swiss menus, wines etc all decently priced and informal. Owner Rosemarie speaks English and very friendly. Place has a warm, wood-panelled interior and you'll be sitting next to people form the neighbourhood, not the posers of more fashionable places. Highly recommended http://www.swissguide.ch/de/ecd/cata...racleatti.html
(booking a good idea)
Also Tiffins on Seefeldstrasse: an open, lively atmosphere with decent Asian food at affordable prices.

A restaurant in the Nederdorf called Oepfel Chammer next to the Oliver Twist is very cute and old. It may be a bit on a higher price (see website), but it has a very nice atmosphere with a bit of history. Food is lovely too. You'll probably need to make reservations.
I believe you can eat small dishes in the bar where they only serve wine.
Have a look at the website. http://www.oepfelchammer.ch/index.ph...ttfried_keller |

[/URL] | | | | | Has anyone managed to climb over the roof beams there? Do you know the technique? If you get it right, the owner allows you to write your graffito on the walls. I'd suggest this place as a late evening drinks destination, as the atmosphere can get pleasantly raucous. Just don't order a beer - this is a wine place - the owner will be most put out if you want beer, and point you next door
And the Kronenhalle for an easy-going atmosphere? Whoops, perhaps Sir would be more comfortable in this Jacket?

I think I remember learning to be a contortionist in there one night...

That's it! I don't think I've ever eaten there or even been sober there, it's a very welcoming place. To get over the beams, you have to hitch yourself up and then go feet first, otherwise you end up exhausting yourself - unless you've upper body strength like Samson - drink the glass of wine he gives you - upside down, of course - then swivel around again to go feet first in the oppostite direction.
Should this activity be worth writing your Tag on a restaurant wall, this is your place. I've never understood the need, but it proves great cheap entertainment! Of course, once one starts it, everyone feels the need to 'have a go'... |

I would bring them to Ristorante Italia, near Langstrasse. A wonderful Italian Restaurant. Reservation in advance is required.

If you are thinking Kronehalle and want something along this line but with a great lake view, there is the Seerose. It is expensive and you need reservations but when the weather is good, it is heavenly. Chez Fritz is part of the same restaurant group and also nice but a little further out.
And you could try Burgli. Or for gourmet Swiss food, I really like Alpenrose-- they don't have a website or at least it is not useful but the food is great.

You have Swiss-Chuchi in the old part of the town - http://www.hotel-adler.ch/content-n50-sD.html
They have a great cheese foundue and other swiss food.

Er, this is an old thread: his parents' visit was in 2006... but never mind, keep the suggestions coming. Maybe they'll come back. | | This user would like to thank MathNut for this useful post: | | |
