I was wandering down Niederdorf last night past the Züribar/Kontiki, and I hear this amazing noise. Sticking my head in the door, it was packed with the predominantly swiss crowd that had tattoos on their tattoos. There was a guy on the stage in the corner abusing a electric guitar in a level of aggression I have seen in a long time. The sound was valve, overdriven and completely wild.
The unusual thing was that in front on him on a chair he had an Apple powerbook, a strange contrasting delicacy. He would stop at points during his performance to trigger some new samples using the keyboard. The odd breaks in his playing were covered by his guitar distortion howling towards feedback. To give you an idea of the samples: no drum tracks here, this was "rock a bye baby" with kids voices. Completely bizarre.
He went completely mad toward the end of the performance, stripped off his shirt and swung it around his head and threw it into the audience, and then ran into the pub next door in a showbiz finale.
