This forum looks pretty cool - I will introduce myself properly later on i swear but right now I'm just craving for a chippie shop. And oh boy oh boy oh boy I heard the rumor this morning that an english couple had opened one in Basel's area !!!

Anyone has got info ? Me and my colleagues are getting nuts

There's a pie shop on Clarastrasse (just opposite the C&A shop near Claraplatz). But it seems hardly anyone knows about it.

Would love to hear about a proper chippy in Basel...

I can highly recommend the pie shop the pies are gorgeous. Sadly not a chip in sight though

Well I dragged the fam. off to Burdocks near Christ-Church for a trip down memory lane over Christmas as to just how bloody awful F+C actually is - mind you. If I were a fish I would rather end up in a shark rather than 1/2 pound of batter and a pint of fat.

I was in Basel at the weekend and don't know if it's the same place but the Migros foodstore (i think) near Pickwicks was advertising fish and chips at the counter at the back

The great pie shop on Clarastrasse has now closed. I can only assume through lack of customers.... shame, it was very good, but I only went once every 2 weeks or so for lunch - I would have go more, but the limited-ish menu (for me anyway) meant I only fancied going twice a month...

I would think you could get fish and chips at the Basel Paddy Reilly's. Not a chippie, I know, but you can't usually get a pint with your food at a chippie either.

The Migros kiosk at MParc in Basel does "Fish and chips" for Fr 6.50

Better than nowt.....

Sadly that Pie Shop was never going to last - it was in such a tucked away location and I rarely saw any customers in there. Great shame though, imagine if they'd opened that in Barfi or one of the main shopping streets.

Let's hope the chippy rumour comes true!
