Re: Medieval Market in Lenzburg Castle

If you find medieval crowds too tiresome, may I suggest Hallwyl, a very pretty castle surrounded by a moat.

I'll be volunteering there tomorrow

Thanks again for this. We took the kids yesterday and had a ball. My girls spent a good half hour smacking the dirt out of laundry medieval style. My husband was disappointed that there was no roast boar or whole turkey legs, but he did say his cappuccino was nice.

We would have gone, but we know of Marple's acute allergy to children [ she's a real saint], and decided to spare her from our little squeaker, .., this time ...

Hope it was a touch more dry in Hallwyl yesterday..

Glad you all enjoyed it

I was doing the laundry in Hallwyl this time, but next month will be back in Lenzburg, if you fancy a return trip.

We got soaked... twice. Which wasn't sooo bad, as it wasn't cold, but we have a few old and original carton boxes of soap and wash things donated by other volunteers and volunteer's grandmothers, and we risked life and limb trying to get them inside the castle before they got damaged.

And, let me tell you, since I "work" with children now, I lost my fear of them . You have to bring the new addition next time

That is because cappuccino, made to the original medieval recipe using local ingredients, substitutes dried cow dung for the coffee.

We'd definitely be up for that, and I'd be bringing yet more children.

Ah. The kids I was planning to invite along will probably induce a relapse.

We'll be there. We couldn't drag the kids away last year, despite the fact that it was raining.

We went on a sunny day last year. The variety of apples to buy and eat were amazing.

I'm thrilled to discover that Mid-devils market is going on again this year - all the way down to dark dungeons of the castle in Lenzburg
