Cafe du Cerf ?

EF Gang,
There is a small chance my family may soon make a day visit to the Neuchatel area. *Another train ride and chance for Lil Dude to record which ICN engine he sees. *
In planning ahead we came across Cafe du Cerf. Since there are " selective" eaters in the group it looks like their menu might fit our needs. Have you been? Decent food?
Looking on the menu the prices don't seem to crazy to me given that it can cost 40 CHF to eat at McDonalds.
Also curious what folks think about the Natural History Museum of Neuchâtel?

Thanks in advance for any feedback and info!

Re: Cafe du Cerf ?

The food is pretty decent and good value for money. Depending on what day of the week you're going it may be worth reserving a table in advance. It can get pretty busy early evening, then a bit quieter and busy again later on.
I've never been midday but I don't think they serve food then except for the saturday brunch , only snack type things lime crisps.

I asked my son about the museum as they went fairly recently. He says it's quite interesting and they have special exhibitions too. Some are more interesting than others ( the recent visit being better than the preceding one) so it might be worth checking what's on at the moment.

Le Cerf is a bit like an old fashioned British pub- and as said by BM, don't think they serve food at lunchtime. Do you like Thai? There is a great little place at the pretty Rue de Chavannes, on left towards the top, which is really good and excellent value for money.

Musée d'histoire naturelle is quite interesting if your kids like wild animals, etc. I used to go to school in that building- and my old class is part of the Museum now (Ecole de Commerce)- so fun for me to go there.
