| | | cozy casual bars in zurich?
hi everyone,
do you know any cozy, casual (not tooo trendy if possible) bars in zurich... i've seen a lot of restaurant posts but looking for a place to hang out with friends (maybe in jeans) in a warm atmosphere where we can relax, have a drink and talk...
any suggestions?
thanks,
stefanie...

Sounds good to me. I wouldn't mind finding a place like this as well!

Hi Stefanie,
I quite like Münz bar, www.muenz.ch, as it's big you can usually hear yourself think. It's not a late night place, but quite chic.
Let us know if you find others!

D-Vino, Denner's new chain of Wine Bars, has opened at Höschgasse, Seefeld, next to Yooji's, Toto's and Iroquois. I really like the place, very friendly staff who know their Crianza from Carinena: and it's affordable, in the Denner tradition. Smoking/non-smoking division (just) and totally without the snob factor found in most winebars |

I can't say i was a fan of Munz - well designed, but always seemed lacking in atmosphere when we were there.
I'd second Almodo and Andorra bar though. Both nice.
I'll add Drinx Bar http://www.drinxbar.ch/ to the list too. It's not raging, but has a nice ambience.

Try Hotel-Gruelich (not sure of the spelling) it is on Stauffacherstr (approx no.178). It has a really nice little nook with fireplace, nice ambiance, food great if not a little expensive. Little known but nice. |

Hi there!
Grand Canale on the northern end of the Limmatquai is our first choice. Very chill, low key, but has a slight techy edge to it. Which we appreciate very much.

There is also the Suppebar off Talstrasse - very cozy and relaxed. A bit crowded some evenings.

I like Wings along the Limmat. The decor is quite original and their snacks are yummy.

When I am in Zurich I like to go to the Casa bar in Münstergasse.
They have different bands playing and a very laid back atmosphere.

| | | Re: cozy casual bars in zurich? Here's a few ideas, depending on what you want to do... Drink good beer - Federale, in the Hbf Drink good wine - Barrique, on the Niederdorf Meeting point before going somewhere else - News Bar, near the Apple shop on Bahnhofplatz. It tends to be very smoky though. Admire the surroundings - El Lokal on Gessnerallee. It's got Appenzell on tap and a bbq outside and a good location, occasional live music, and is amazing to look at inside. However the staff and bouncers can be plonkers and let the place down. eg if they sell me drinks outside at night then why do I then have to pay admission to use the loos? - Ole Ole on Langstrasse. It's as visually busy inside as El Lokal but the staff are truly lovely. Bottled beer. English not spoken. - Rote Fabrik, Wollishofen. Mingle with the wealthy - Widder Bar, on Rennweg - Bar au Lac Chill - Rimini bar, near Hallenbad. - Almodo, near Enge. - Andorra or its sister bar Corazon. - Drinx Bar (DB) in Seefeld is also nice, but is also very smoky. People watch - any place on Rosenhof, such as eg Nachtflug.
- Odeon by Bellevue - summer evenings along the waterfront, between Sachseluutenplatz and China Garten. All sorts of little bars spring up along there. It's got its share of posers though. Hear English spoken - the Red Lion (Rennweg) is quite civilised. - Nelson is more of a normal English bar. It has footy on most nights. Crunchy underfoot. - The Twist on the Niederdorf is also an option. Food isn't great though. - South End pub Wollishofen, by the #7 tram terminus. It's also independently owned, unlike Paddy's/Pickwicks/Twist etc. - Forget Paddy's, unless there's a match on. There's plenty more places too... | | This user would like to thank bubbles4352 for this useful post: | |
