My personal recommendations for both expensive and good value for money food in and around Geneva:
Geneva
Relais de Chambésy in Chambésy, also owned by Philippe Chevrier but not as expensive as Domaine de Châteauvieux

Restaurant du Creux-de-Genthod has great views of the lake and better food than the more touristy Perle du Lac

Soupçon is a good choice for lunch in the Old Town

Piment Vert at Place Grenus (right behind Manor La Placette) offers good Sri Lankan food in quite small (but rich) portions
Good sushi on the go can be found in Mikado (Paquis area)
http://www.mikado-food.ch/index.php and Uchitomi (rue Ferrier) where they make very tasty (and crunchy) maki made with deep-fried panko-coated prawns

In winter go to Buvettes des Bains in Paquis for best value fondue in town, made with Crémant de Dardagny

Buffet de la Gare in Céligny (this is a Geneva enclave but quite detached from the rest of the canton so I put it together with Vaud) is a very good choice for an elegant dinner

Au Cour de la Côte in Vinzel is one among several restaurants in the area famous for serving Malakoffs (and you absolutely have to try these addictive cholesterol bombs)
Café du Port in Rolle is the best place in the area for filets de perche et frites
Go to L'Esplanade in Aubonne for elegant food and setting

Le Chanteclair in Ferney-Voltaire serves incredibly cheap gourmet fare
Rajpoute in Ornex (Pays-de-Gex) is a good place for (usually quite disappointing) Indian food in the Geneva area
