I am really missing Thai food. Went out to a 'Thai' restaurant yesterday with a friend and ordered what I thought was Pad Thai... we even pointed to what we thought was Pad Thai on the menu and asked if it was Pad Thai - he assured us it was. Well, when it arrived it was just noodles with a bit of chicken drenched in soy sauce... not even a slight hint of a peanut. But that wasn't the worst of it. We though we would get some dumplings for starters (yes it's more chinese than thai.. but hey.. how can you get dumplings wrong.. right?). Anyway it arrived with a mustard flavoured cheese sauce? What the??

Sigh.. the hunt for good Thai continues.. sniff

Theres a really good Thai in Hottigen called Lemon Grass, I think its on Klosbachstrasse. I had a very nice Red Thai Curry, not sure about Pad Thai tho... but it was very nice.

If ever you find yourself in Zurich, there is a Thai restaurant in Thalwil called Thai Restaurant.

They don't speak English, they don't speak German. They speak Thai. The food IS NOT full of canned bamboo shoots.

It is as geniune as you will find here in Switzerland. The Som Tam will blow your eyeballs out and the sticky rice will leave you addicted.

Im in Lausanne.. but willing to travel the 3hrs to get some good thai. Havent really seen Zurich yet (aside from the airport) .. so maybe kill two birds with one stone eh? (that saying has such negative connotations.. maybe.. Give two presents with one credit card.. or.. one joke and two smiles)

Cool.. I would really suggest to do a search. There's a fantastic place called Ah Hua on Helvetiaplatz where it's filled with Thai people having their meals. More info in thread: Restaurant tips - general for Zurich

Word. Ah Hua is excellent. Eat in though, their take-away just isn't quite as good.

Indeed. It is 2 about 100m from the station. On Schwandelstr. It's called Thailand.

Tiffins on Seefeldstrasse , Bellevue.

Casual eating, very reasonably priced and the Red Thai Curry tastes great...although they seemed to have watered down the spicynessness since I first went there. But if you ask for "extra scharf" then you won't be disappointed if you like steam coming out your ears like I do.

Only sad thing is they are CLOSED ON SUNDAYS.

I think this is the place chemgoddess is referring to. It is my all time favourite in Zürich. I've scoured the city looking for a good thai and nothing comes close to the aunthenticity of the meals they prepare here.

It's not a fancy restaurant, rather a take away with sit down service.

Edit: the owners have a proper sit down restaurant around the corner at Helvetiaplatz as mentioned, however i find the food here to be a little toned down to cater for the masses .

guys.. im sooo jealous.. there must be a good thai closer to home (lausanne)

Not sure about a Pad Thai, but I know a great Thai restaurant in Scaffhausen called "Lemon Grass", they do a great Green Curry.

In Geneva we have at least two good thaï restaurants: one called "Mik-Wong" (one beside the McDonalds in Plainpalais, one near the station on Blvd James-Fazy), and one called "La feuille de banane" in the rue de Carouge.

La feuille de banane does a killer green curry (also does yellow and red curries). They are know for their serving speed (you practically get your food before you even ordered it. Perfect for take-away rather than a quiet evening).
