Child friendly and fun restaurant central Geneva

Hi going to Geneva for one night prior to flight the next day, have managed to get hotel but as it is also my daughters 8th birthday that day would love to take her somewhere fun and funky for birthday dinner.

Does anyone have any suggestions, as never been to Geneva before and wouldn't know where to start.

Thanks Glenda

Out of idle curiosity, which of the hotels recommended in replies to your previous post did you end up choosing?

No problem should actually put a response in that thread, we ended up after a bit more searching and also being unable to get booked with some of the suggested, going for a hotel called Hotel Capitole in the city centre near station so easy access to the airport next day. Got fab deal check their website www.hotelcapitole.ch the stunning penthouse as they describe is 400 francs per night if booking over the phone but only 200 francs by internet, it looks great and includes breakfast, checked out tripadvisor and no bad reports.

Will respond after our stay to let all know if worthwhile recommending.

Thanks Glenda

I noticed that the Hotel Capitole is a member of the Minotel chain ... I have had many good experiences in their hotels in various parts of Switzerland. Hope you enjoy your stay!

I'm still on the look out for any recommendations. I have searched and searched internet but getting nothing, is there anyone who knows somewhere with a bit of atmosphere that we could book, as only there for one night and as it is daughters birthday do not want to waste the day looking for suitable place to eat. HELP

Re: Child friendly and fun restaurant central Geneva

I remember once posting a list of my favourite restaurants in Geneva. I think it was on this thread: Whats your favourite restaurant in Switzerland?

It is difficult to give recommendations without knowing what food you and your children like/don't like and what 'a bit of atmosphere' means to you. If you give more details, I may be able to be more specific.

Thanks, will have a look at that thread, we like most foods, italian, chinese, indian, mexican, swiss, etc, atmosphere would be aimed at bustly, waiter that makes a fuss of kids, maybe even sparkler in ice cream for birthday girl, maybe this doesn't exist in Geneva.

Here's a database of restaurants in Geneva. The "English" version of the site is flimsy at best, but you should be able to navigate the site fine. There are plenty of restaurants around the train station. One of my favorites is Chat Rouge, a Mexican restaurant. The food is great and I think they should do birthdays no problem if you reserve ahead of time. http://www.resto-rang.ch/info.cfm?canton=GE&restono=33

But, honestly, there are so many and this is just the first one that comes to mind.
