Rock am Ring - Rock im Park

I have just been looking at the line up for these and they look quite interesting:

Bloc Party, Korn, Placebo, Prodigy The Killers, The Kooks and many more.

Has anyone been to either of these previously? How do they compare with some of the UK festivals?

Re: Rock am Ring - Rock im Park

Well, I dunno about that...there's Les Eurockéennes which normally has a brilliant lineup. I'd check that one out too. It's about a half-hour drive away from Basel, in Belfort, France.

Would love to go to Rock Am Ring, but in the past it's always fell on weeks I have to work. This year it's not, but I've seen every one of those bands (and interviewed one of them!) so I probably won't go. :-/

Based on the music festivals in Europe that I have been to (annoyingly few - Les Eurockéenes x2, Musilac (tiny), erm, another one I've forgotten the name of), festivals here are GREAT! The camping areas are nowhere near as busy, the toilets are usually cleaner and often without the massive queues (and none of the pit toilets like at Glasto), usually with toilet paper! Tickets are cheaper, people are more communal (seems to be less crime - you don't wake up in the middle of the night smelling burning toilets like you do at Leeds Fest), and the ground is often (not always) dusty instead of muddy.

Actually, someone did go into one of our tents one night before we got back on the final night of the festival. They took two bananas and opened a packet of Nutri-Grain Elevenses, leaving us a couple but taking the rest. I guess they had the munchies. They left more valuable stuff and junkt food, opting for fruit and muesli!

It certainly beats the gang that bruised my entire back with giant garden candle sticks at Glasto back in 2000 for the joy of nicking £200 off my mate.
