Geneva cinema and decent Chinese restaurant

Is there an easy-to-find cinema in Geneva that happens to have a decent Chinese restaurant close by. We're thinking of making the break from France to see a film in English instead of dubbed in French for a change, and I'm craving decent Chinese food.

Re: Geneva cinema and decent Chinese restaurant

I quite like the "Zhong Tong" which is next to the cinema Broadway (rue du Cendrier 10):

Food is reasonably priced and always tastes fresh. There is a "terrasse" at the back.

TBH I wouldn't definetly go to the Broadway because there is a chinese restaurant nearby. Better choose a good film and go to the restaurant afterwards.

Re: Geneva cinema and decent Chinese restaurant

Most Geneva films are in English since the city is 80% foreigners.

GREAT Chinese restaurant is TseYang in Kempinski but it is fairly pricey, but you'll love it. Close to a cinema...

There is a Chinese place (Jardin d'Asie) right in front of Brasserie Lipp and there is a large movie theater in the same shopping mall complex (Confédération Centre) (it's right downtown.) I haven't tried that place though. Reviews are average.

Yep, unlike where I am in France. That why we're coming to GVA. Will check out all these Chinese restaurants over the next few months now that the ski season is over (although it's snowing here today, grumble, grumble). Thanks.

Answer to all your problems.
Restaurants have to pay to be on the website so not really an objective classification.

Sure, but the reviews are...

Besides, why would I want to go to a restaurant that can't afford a few chfs for publicity.

Re: Geneva cinema and decent Chinese restaurant

I don't care whether it's romantic or not, as long as it's decent Chinese food. Mexican is also on the list of missed foods as Annecy doesn't seem to have much (but the Greek and Lebanese restaurants there are lovvvvvely!).

We went to this restaurant recently and we were very disappointed. Whilst the prices are normal for Switzerland the portions are far from normal. We ordered a rice dish and a noodle dish. Normally, this comes on a big plate but ours came on a half-sized plate. Plus, I can not say the standard of the cooking was anything other than average. Be warned.

What do you mean by rice dish and noodle dish? Do you mean plain rice and plain noodles to accompagny the main dishes?
If it wasn't nice maybe it was lucky that you didn't get too much?

TBH I don't usually judge the quality of a restaurant by the amount of food on the plates.

Have you tried Le Palais de Saigon in Ferney Voltaire?? (41, rue de Meyrin) Decent food, good service..... it's more Vietnamese though, but there's dishes that are similar to Chinese ones. Actually it's my mother-in-law's restaurant, but I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't think the food was good!

Re: Geneva cinema and decent Chinese restaurant

There is an excellent chinese restaurant a bit further from the Rex cinemas (the ones in Confédération centre). It's called the "Lin Xing" (I think), and is in the rue du Port (a street pretty much in front of Jouets Weber, FNAC). They make very good crevettes croustillantes
The Rex, Rialto and Balexert are the cinemas where VOs (english versions) are most often.

It is more like 45%, according to the local administration.

Re: Geneva cinema and decent Chinese restaurant

A bit off topic, do you know if cinemas in Geneva (Rex and Rialto) are air conditioned ?
Thanks.
