Hi everyone! I was recently in a bar in Zurich called the Big Ben. They had a great covers singer called Chris Black. He was doing stuff like The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand and older stuff like Beatles, Stones and the Doors. The place was rocking. I found his website and he does gigs all over Switzerland almost every night. I just thought I'd post this up as I had a good time and it was great to hear some decent music in Switzerland for a change. Anyone else seen this guy live?

I saw Chris Black play at the Roadhouse in Luzern next to the Railway station, he seems to play there every week ish but not till late, last time i saw him it was well into the wee hours maybe 3 am but he was rockin! his next gig will probably be on their website www.roadhouse.ch

Somebody told me that he is playing in The Penny in Aarau on Friday, 6th. April 2007. Sounds cool!

When I saw him last week he started quite early around 7pm. Once the office crowd left it started rocking out around 9.30. I'm defintely going on Tuesday. I bought one of his cds and was really impressed. It's a bit like Oasis but for me thats a good thing! (I know many will disagree!). I want to buy the other one now. Maybe see you there?

The Big Ben plays the coolest music in Switzerland. Art Brut, Interpol, Arctic Monkeys, Kooks etc. Fantastic. I think the management are trying to educate the Swiss... Saw Chris Black in the Penny Farthing in Aarau a couple of months ago. I have to agree he was brilliant! (and pretty sexy too!!) It would be interesting to hear him without the backing tracks though.

I really enjoyed the show.

Chris is a friendly Brit who sings 5 (yes, five) half hours sets, starting on the hour from 7pm until 11pm. He provides a menu of songs and anyone is welcome to choose the songs they'd like to hear him sing.

His cover songs are more rock than pop, for example Green Day, Oasis, RHCP, Coldplay, Radionhead, the Killers, but also the Beatles, the Monkees and some other "easier" listening.

He plays all over Switzerland, so you should check out www.chrisblack.ch to find the next gig near you. He'll next be in Zürich on 15th

PS There's no admission fee, just regular pub prices.

PPS OK, who has excuses for not turning up?

I see this guy is playing in Zurich again on Thursday, is it worth while going to see/hear and is he any good?
Is the Big Ben far out from the city centre?
