And I'm not talking about accordians and alp horns...
Hopefully this topic has been covered in depth and someone can point me in the right direction, but is there any good local swiss bands / dj's music?
Coming from a tiny city in Australia, I'm used to loads of flyers about underground gigs with 5-10 band line-ups of indie acts in a number of venues and a number of genres for all tastes on a weekly basis. Sure they aren't always MTV quality, but a great atmosphere. Many Swiss people i have met have groaned at the 'brit-pop, euro-vision' 'swiss talent'.
I'm open (wide open: Adelaide is the home of metal/hardcore in Aus, but I also enjoy quieter indie acts through to acoustic set). Are there many venues up to cater for or foster a 'scene'?
There must be something kicking out there, in the grimy backstreets. Perhaps if there isn't already, a sticky for indie bands/gigs/venues?
There's definitely a lot around here in Luzern, don't know about Brienz. There are 2-3 clubs here that have local bands play on a regular enough basis, another has a regular jam night on. A few alternative bars also get bands in, check for flyers and such there, the local paper will also tell you what's on.
http://www.last.fm/events also has decent listings for what's on in Luzern and also Zurich, where there are maybe five times as many such venues, squats and openairs in the summer.
Hey kids!
thanks.
I'm in Brienz right now but won't be here for long, good to know what's happening elsewhere for future reference.
Thanks for the names. I'll check them out. I also heard about the Reitschule in Bern, also sounds interesting...
