In fact last night we went to Le Cabinet and met the best DJ Ever!
DJ Princess.

I'd recommend going to see her fantastic set at all costs! It was one of the best punk nights ever! Much better than any night I've been to in the UK even, and that's saying something.

Aside from the odd gig and odd DJ it seems there's nowhere that one could go regularly and expect Punk/Metal/Ska/Goth.
I hope I'm mistaken.

Goth gets me no hits :'(

Metal gets me one hit only :'(

We appeal to anyone with similar musical tastes for some info here!!

There's a lot of talk about l'Usine around. Is this the place to be?

That's where you want to go indeed. Quite a few of my mates in Gva are into their ska/punk and there are regular nights, be ready for French and Spanish ska/punk bands though

At L'Usine, go to the Le Rez (ex-Kab) bar, ground floor, entrance is river side.

Not sure about goth, I'm not into it but metal wise, it's never been popular in Geneva, I had a similar problem when I was part of the scene in the 80's. You have to expand a bit your search, Lausanne has a pub called Le Lapin Vert which has a metal prog and Fri-Son in Fribourg used to organise metal nights too.

Otherwise, I can recommend a concert by these chaps, mates of mine and you'll have fun, their stage act is rather unusual

I'm told l'usine is good in Geneva.

As for metal, I'd suggest watching where Geneva grindcore guys Mumakil are playing. The scene there for metal (and punk, for that matter) is really pretty small, and fairly tight knit, so if you get to know a few people there you should find out about all the good places and events

If you can make it as far as Lausanne (30 mins on the train), then a club called "Les Docks" may have some stuff that you like. The range of music that they list on their website is (links to their main page and concert schedule):
"Au programme, une scène ouverte aux musiques actuelles: rock, pop, chanson française, songwriters, reggae, métal, hip-hop, punk, ska, urban beats, électro, ainsi que world, soul, R&B et blues."

Les Docks is close to the city center, but make sure that you bring a good map with you to find the place - there are always people walking or driving around Lausanne in the evenings asking where it is.
