Afraid I can't help with Royale, but have been to Capitol, which is near Barfuserplatz, and it is really nice - much better standard of cinema than I have been used to in the UK. I love their comfy leather seats!!

Regrettably cinemas aren't cheap in Switzerland. In Zürich, 17.-- is standard...

Hi, i agree with Mepriana about cinemas here. I go quite often and have been to most of them in Basel although i never remember their names. There is one, however, which i try to avoid. It's the one opposite the bottom of the road which Atlantis is on and corners onto the road which Paddy's and Steinegrill are on. I think it's called Plaza and i had a very disconcerting and nauseating experience as the floor sloped up hill to the screen! Maybe it's just me but i'd rather not go through that again.

Thanks for all replies. Would like to know what "Edf" refers to ?, as I see this in the movies list.

The capital letter is the language the film is showed in.

The small letters are for the subtitle languages.

D=German F=French I=Italian E=English O=Other/Original

It's expensive everywhere. If you consider how much you earn here, I'd say it is on par with, or even cheaper than, in the US.

I only go on Monday's for 12 CHF in Zürich. Same movie, less people and it costs less.
