| | | Re: 6 Nations Rugby 2010 | Quote: | | | | | Yep, England becoming like the Italians, more imports than you can shake your fist at, at least the Italians have some sort of excuse whereas the English? largest rugby playing nation on the planet is it not? sad sad state of affairs (whats worse is that the imports come from that northern game, rugby league!!!) sweet Jesus!!!
I will let the fact that Jason Robinson did well conveniently pass me by...
Matches are on the BEEB are they not? | | | | | Yeah, England have the biggest pool of players available, as well as inject the most funding, yet we seem to have a distinct lack of quality coming through. The other issue is Martin Johnson not willing to take a gamble. We should have a back line of Care (or Hodgson), Flood, Flutey, Tait, Monye, Ashton and Armitage. Also need to get a new captain, Borthwick is not one of the two best locks in the country. Perhaps a Kennedy/Lawes combo. And what is going on with the props!!
All matches will be on the beeb except any of the England home games which will be on Sky. Will be reserving tables for the first day and spending all that afternoon dans le pub!

Ah, was not aware that England games were on Sky, bugger, will need to have leave chit signed by the Missus
Well Borthwick does play for South Africa, sorry, Saracens and no doubt Ventor will be coaching him on how to be a crap captain!!!
This is the best opportunity that Johnson has to try out new blood proir to 2011 and no doubt his back room boys will be giving him their best advice... not.
That 1st England game is going out in 3D aswell, would be a strange looking pub with everyone wearing their 3D glasses
"England fans have grown accustomed to looking back through rose-tinted glasses. Now they have the chance to do it in real time.
England's Six Nations fixtures against Wales and Ireland will both be shown in 3D at cinemas, with the visit of the Welsh to Twickenham becoming the Europe's first live 3D sports broadcast.
The games will be screened at select Odeon and Cineworld cinemas across the UK. Jokes about England's one-dimensional approach to the game will not be welcome." source: Planet Rugby

Also just joked about the dimensions of England's plan in a blog post, so too late on that front! |

Have to check. I thought ALL mathces had to be available on Free to Air, so the Beeb.
If not I have a Dreambox for SKY :-) just not connected at the moment but is quickly solved.

Nice to see that gamnes are now more widely available.
now if anyone has any tips as to where I can catch games in Zilina ... now that would be well cool. |

1. T Payne
2. D Hartley
3. D Wilson
4. S Shaw
5. S Borthwick
6. J Haskell
7. L Moody
8. N Easter
9. D Care
10. J Wilkinson
11. U Monye
12. R Flutey
13. M Tait
14. M Cueto
15. D Armitage
I'm interested to see Tait back in the side at 13. Although I do feel that Hipkiss is a good player, I'm hoping that Tait will be given a real go as he is a good runner. He will hopefully also benefit from having Flutey inside him (though it pains me to see a Kiwi there).
On the fence: JW - as much as I admire him, I'm not sure he's right for moving the team forward. That said, he is getting good game time in France (according to the reports I am reading...). Moyne - played out of position in the autumns, let's see what he can give in position, but he has little room for error IMO.
Weak link? Who else but Borthwick... I think only an injury will get MJ to change him...
Another concern for me is Easter. I just don't think he cuts the grade at international level. He always appears slow and direct (i.e. no variation) and therefore easy to anticipate and take down.
Overall if the team are given a clear strategy that they can convert to tactics and execute them well, they should be able to do some damage, but that is a big "if" based on previous "rabbit in headlights" performances...
Comments on this and your own 6N team?

Don't suppose anyone knows how I can get tickets for the England Wales game at Twickers? Best I've found is £200 each |

I'd love to go see an actual game. I'm not a regular rugby follower, but it would be a great experience.

Murrayfield has lost it's magic ... but Edinburgh & Dublin for pre-post match beer & antics are way ahead of any of the other cities ... again imo. (now waiting for Keith to come along & acuse me of being a know nothing heretic)

Switzerland also has an international team although I couldn't see when they are next playing.

Actually, saw Lomu playing in NZ once. Man, that guy was amazing.

I went to see Munster play in Geneva a couple of years ago, which apart from the streakers was a forgettable experience, and have been promising myself to combine Ireland v's Italy in Rome for nearly a decade, still haven't gotten round to it, maybe next year.
