The poor guys doing his level best to guarantee himself a night of passion here, he's risking a lot of money, he's on his last night in Switzerland with the gil of his dreams, he's at the "now or never stage" and the whole forum is rooting for him as much as he is er er rooting her..we hope!
So many of us our on tenterhooks here, wondering what's going to happen, if there was a snooker commentator around he would say that the tension...is unbearable.
And all you can do is trot off little reviews about restaurants in Basel on the very night where's he out hopefully doing the business
Honestly Mel. I know your post was well intentioned...but there's a time and a place...a time and a place! | | | | | Oh dear, sorry, I'm afraid I have a bit of a reputation for my bad timekeeping! I only just came across the post and got a bit overexcited with being able to share my restaurant finds.
Anyway, it may be useful to others in future and from a woman's perspective, I can say that the places I mentioned would all impress me!

You see, I can't believe Terry got anywhere personally. If he had, I do believe he would have been straight on to the forum to put us all out of our misery.
You may argue ..."but perhaps he's been at it all night?" Well I don't know about his prowess between the sheets, but I have seen him play football and let me tell you...you don't build up the kind of stamina that he would need compared to what he had in two short weeks!
No.. I do believe that tonight will bring him the sorrow and depths of despair that only a night out in Basel with somebody as lovely as you could bring him out of. You are the only one who can stop his name passing into history as the inspiration for the phrase " I've just been Terryhalled" to replace what used to be the line " That girl's just given me the knockback....she must be a lesbian!"
I'm relying on you Mel. We all are. Make him happy again. Do it for the Forum |

It's liking waiting all week for that next episode of Heartbeat only to find out that due to the delayed showing of the Grand Prix it will now not be shown to next week...
Oooh I hate when that happens |

Well, here's the full week review.
Wed 20 - spent the day making sure that my flat etc was all sorted and tidy prior to going to pick her up from Basel airport at 19.00, including buying a SatNav from InterDiscount so we could get to places while she was here without getting lost.
19.05 Picked her up from the airport
19.06 She starts telling me how much she is already missing her brand new 42 year old married boyfriend.
This is pretty much the pattern for the week from this point onwards.
In the "good news" box, I managed to hold my tongue for the week and not tell her that I have no clue why she even bothered coming other than to screw my head up royally (mission accomplished haha ), Uto Kulm was amazing (although it's very hot in the Wintergarten when the sun's out!) and is highly recommended, we saw half of Walk The Line in Idaplatz and then had to go for a train home so missed the rest, we went to Bienne and went up the Chasseral which was amazing, Seerose on the last night was brilliant, nice meal, good service and very relaxed with the piano playing.
However, in the "bad news" box, she spent her time either moaning about getting a sunburnt nose, moaning cos it was too cloudy, or telling me about "Kevin" and how much she is head over heels for him. Or moaning because she had wet feet. (Wear proper shoes when it's raining...? Just a thought...) Also, because my boss neglected to loan me the sofa-bed he promised before going on holiday to Thailand, we had to share a bed all week.
Mind you, it's not all doom and gloom, I got a peck on the cheek before she left, so that's something I suppose...
Not quite the Heartbeat fairy tale everyone had in mind, but then I did keep saying "no we're just friends", even if I didn't quite believe it myself...
...ah well, I've written two awesome songs about it all so it's good news for when my recording career finally kicks off | | This user would like to thank terryhall for this useful post: | |

Terry...thanks for keeping us updated. I'm gutted for you. It's like hearing PC Ventris has had a bad heart attack!
Still....time to look on the bright side. You have discovered, and now have some experience of, a few nice places in the area to take a lovely young lady who is actually deserving of your attention (I read your post...now I hate that bitch! )
And... as luck would have it....a seemingly charming and lovely young lady by the name of ScientistMel wandered onto this thread with the sense of timing that I was originally castigating her for, but which now, and I hold my hands up to this, might just prove to have been immaculate!
I reckon you two could get something going here. It could be a good way to keep this thread going. Has there been a couple before who have met through the English Forum and gone on to get married?
I think I'll let Cilla know she might need to get a new hat!
By the way....one last thing.. | Quote: | | | | Also, because my boss neglected to loan me the sofa-bed he promised before going on holiday to Thailand, we had to share a bed all week | | | | | very funny....and nice try! I think I like your boss |

She could have made the 40min flight turnaround. | Quote: | | | | | 19.05 Picked her up from the airport
19.06 She starts telling me how much she is already missing her brand new 42 year old married boyfriend. | | | | | I would at the very least got her an early flight home, citing more viable prospects available; even down the Nelson. To persist under such difficult circumstances deserves a medal of honour for unrequited lust well beyond the Call of Duty (3). | Quote: | | | | | or telling me about "Kevin" and how much she is head over heels for him. | | | | | We can do a rendition of "Gordon is a Moron" with appropriate name substitutions.

Tim, I think Ventriss has had a heart attack, fallen off the roof, landed on a spike and then had to crawl over broken glass to get to A&E...it's not looking too good for him. (Switch over to The Royal now to see how the recovery goes, hahaha)
Lob, I carry it well don't I ?? You can imagine how pleased her parents are with the situation...
DaveA, Yeah I guess "beyond the call of duty" does kind of sum it all up Gordon is a Moron sounds like a winner, I'll get it ready for the open mic's on Industriestrasse edit - in fact, I'll do a cover of Billy Bragg covering "Walk Away Renee", ending with the immortal line "And then one day it happened...she cut her hair and I stopped loving her"
I think I may be painting a bad picture of her though, we really did have quite a good week and it was nice to see her, it just wasn't quite as good a week as it could have been, and conversation topics were reasonably limited to her new fella (which I suppose is understandable given that she does seem to really like him). So I have to play Devil's Advocate a bit here and say that she's not as heartless as I seem to have made out..!
But even so, I got myself a new signature lyric to reflect things

Reason: addition of Billy Bragg comment

I've been on holiday for a couple of weeks and just caught up with events and well, I'm totally gutted for you Terry. Contrary to previous posts, I am a bit of a romantic and thought that what you'd planned was lovely. It was so nice to see such effort and planning go into your week. Whilst not wanting to say anything derogatory about your friend, I think it was totally unfair of her to visit and lead you on. She could have at least told you about the boyfriend before hand. I hope you're ok.

Do you mean beforehand or before... hand ? The difference is important in the campaign not to embarrass Tez further.

Ah, well Terry, you have just advertised what a great fella you are to many women reading this forum, so who knows? Some good may come out of this seemingly sorry debacle (sorry Tim, I'm currently off the market though).
As for the lady friend, well she has gone and let herself fall for a married man, so she could be heading for disapointment herself somewhere along the line and realise what a bad decision she made!

Nope, Terry delivers the "you had your chance Sweetcheeks" bombshell
YorkieBerd, yeah I'm good - it's not the first time and it won't be the last, but everything happens for a reason so I'm not too beaten up about it.
DaveA, sadly it would have been "beforehand" that would have been the correct usage and, for the record, I am practically unembarrassable. If that's a word.
