Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Tickets booked for Friday's show in 3D at the Pathé, Westside, Bern. Anyone else planning to see it?

Re: Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Absolutely. I plan on going with my daughter this weekend. In addition to the 3D glasses is there any truth to the rumor that you get a tab of LSD with a sugar cube with the entrance ticket? I just find it a shame that all Burton flicks have to have Mr. Depp and Helena Bonham (I can play a strange witch person) Carter in them. It's sort of Charlie and the Chocolate Big Fish if you get the mix.

Re: Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

nope not a hope! he is amazing and I love his work but I nearly cried when I saw the new Charlie and the Chocolate factory!! he ruined the magic of the it!!

I do like the fact Matt Lucas (Little Britain) is in it though

Yeah watch that. If your daughter has a sweet tooth she's gonna want that sugar cube!

Yup, going to watch it this weekend in Zurich.

Anyone knows if they'll charge you again for new 3D glasses? I still have mine from Avatar and dont see the point of paying for new ones.

Hope I am not mistaken but is Burton not married to HBCarter? So it would seem she's guaranteed a part...

Re: Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Over the weekend we had a house guest from Malaysia (my ex-colleague) who was in London for a few days to attend the 'Alice' round-table interviews and press conferences. She said Mr Burton and Mr Depp were funny and Ms Bonham-Carter was the wittiest of them all.

Did you notice the 'Alice' merchandise at Claire's?
(MusicChick, you'll want those striped stockings with hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades running down the back.)

Depp, Burton, Carter... sounds a bit like a circle of friends to me... still, the movies have definitely the WOW factor... I imagine Burton going to the big studios "hey, I have a great idea for this really weird movie..." and the fat cat just chucking tons of cash at him...

Re: Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Be interested to see how the Cheshire cat is portrayed. Burton is an avowed cat-hater and with Stephen Fry voicing it and the images I've seen, it could be depply disturbing....

Have you ever seen Ed Wood? Possibly the strangest film I have seen and unbelieveably based on a true story. I don't know how he got the cash together to film that one

Re: Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

To derail my own thread slightly, talking of Depp, my Mum's birthday is coming up and is a big Depp fan, so requested a couple of DVDs. She has Chocolat and Neverland, but what else could you recommend in a similar vein. Not sure if she would like Scissorhands, Willy Wonka or the PoTC movies, what about Sweeney Todd?

Re: Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

I got myself some tickets at the IMAX 3D in London for Saturday.... and I can't wait. Wish I had seen Avatar at the IMAX. I watched the trailer in 3D and thought it was amazing... plus, I love Tim Burton movies. I saw Nightmare before Christmas in 3D in London a few years ago, and it was fantastic. I expect nothing less with Alice in Wonderland.
