St Patrick's Day

Wondering if everyone knows what it is and if they do, are they doing anything for it?

Probably heading to Paddy Reilly's in Fribourg. They have a live band (not Irish, unfortunately)

What do you mean "wondering if everyone knows what it is"? You don't know what it is? Or you want everybody else to know what it is?

Well ideally they would get Owen Gerrard, but he's probably already booked at Paddy Reilly's somewhere else.

Re: St Patrick's Day

I imagine himself will be down the pub, and me at home with a bit of sean-nós on the CD player for company. (I may even warble a bar or two myself if the spirit takes me.)

Re: St Patrick's Day

Hey All,

Not sure what's happening on Paddy's day here in Bern - am only here a week so far myself. I think there's a seisuin in Mr. Pickwicks, but I was wondering of anyone plays Irish music themselves here in Bern? I play flute, and if my packages arrive from Ireland anytime soon I'll be able to put out a jig or two
Also, I make a mean Guinness stew so might make that for ma housemates

Re: St Patrick's Day

The Cranberries are playing the Hallenstadion on the 17th, should anyone be interested (not going to be able to make it myself however)

I'll probably do nothing on the day itself, but rather carry something over to the following weekend. For the day itself, the queues to get into Paddy Reilly's two years ago were atrocious, and come to think of it we stopped by the front door last year too - a no-go. So I'll forego the craic there and wait for the weekend.

I'm thinking of staying in on St P day for a change and cooking Beef in Guinness with dumplings - how does that sound?

Re: St Patrick's Day

Lugano folks, the options are limited as the Irish bar in Sorengo is usually heaving with all the Franklin trust fund kids. Anyone any other ideas? I'd lobby for Irish Club Alpino in Tesserete, nice looking local place..
