Tips for English musical/show/theatre in/around Zurich?

Hello!

trying to find a nice evening out in/around Zurich, an English speaking musical/theatre show.

Went to a English stand-up comedy night ("Funny Laundry" - should have more appropriately been named Dirty Laundry)- but that was rude entertainment, not really enjoyed that.

I did find Ticketcorner but have great difficulty finding anything on that site! The Zurich Comedy Club appears to have no shows in June/July/August?

Anybody have any experience with going to nice indoor/outdoor plays/musicals/showings?

Your help is much appreciated.

The Zurich Comedy Club perform twice a year, in May/June (last performance of 'Whose Life is it Anyway?' last night) and November each year - always in English.

Mamma Mia is coming to Zurich in September and is in English. Very 'gentle' story but very funny.

I can highly recommend the show, especially if you like ABBA's music.

Mamma Mia, fantastic! I haven't seen that yet.

How often do the major English-language productions include Switzerland on their tours? Any chance a show like Phantom of the Opera or Hairspray will make a stop or will I have to hop on a plane/train to London for that?

Check out The Ghost Walk of Zurich, recently featured in Saturday's Tages-Anzeiger (Stadt Zurich edition).

Argh! The scary man in black made me jump out of my skin the other night, my dad nearly had a heart attack and my mum fainted

Oh, I should add we weren't actually on the tour, we were just crossing Paradeplatz to get to the Zeughauskeller

Here are the pictures from the Englishforum Ghost Walk meeting from last summer. Gets my vote!

Radio Ga Ga in german is very amusing

And I think Switzerland is VERY English friendly compared to other parts of Europe. Most films are shown in English for a start

Re: Tips for English musical/show/theatre in/around Zurich?

Yeah sure but I just had to let it out somewhere.... and I may sound quite prudish but I think English is a universal language and if they wanna be a big international city, its the least they can do! All said n done I love Zürich and my life here... but wwry in german for that price...thats like a needle poking you in a part of your body you just can't reach!

Got tickets for Cirque du Soliel too, Mamma Mia next on the list. You can subscribe to the ticketcorner newsletter and it keeps you updated on all the new acts (u can choose ur language n city).
