Re: cheap restaurants in zurich

I can not for the life of me I can not find a website for the Chinese Restaurant near the top of Langstrasse (near Badenerstrasse).

It is called "Suan Long", and is located at:
Langstrasse 11,
Zürich 8003

There is another "dodgey looking"* chinese shop across the road called "Chopsticks", so be careful you get the right one.

*I actually have no idea about Chopsticks, but when Suan Long packs out, and Chopsticks is empty - you don't need to be a rocket scientist.

Not only are the meals reasonable, but the service is always good to (a rare commodity for Zürich).

Open late

Open Sundays

(for convenience, price, and quality)
I recommend it.

There's one shop next to Suan Long - called Peking Garden (seems like Take Away but you can actually dine in). Not bad - especially the Grill Duck and Wantan Soup.

You might want to try it out as well - cheap and nice food.

Re: cheap restaurants in zurich

Near Stauffacher there is Bubbles, really nice baked potatoes and brilliant cheesecake.

Near Kalkbreite you have HotPot, with nice salads and also baked potatoes.

Both are reasonably priced and friendly.

Is this not simply a contradiction in terms?

Re: cheap restaurants in zurich

This thread has been dormant for a little while, and I'd really appreciate any insight people have on this topic as of now....

I probably should add that:

-Cheap to me is sub CHF 17 per main
-I prefer hearty homemade plates of dinner, rather than dishes - often served at these expensive haunts - where the main looks like a starter to the starter
-I'm in Kreis 4, albeit that I'm happy to hop on the Ronnie Tram

Thanks for all your recommendations!
