Just got back and it was not too bad at all.
The Onion Bhajis were onion rings in pakora type batter, but tasty. Somosa were home made and nice.
Only problem was that I was hoping for a pickle selection with the poppadoms - you know -like chopped onions, mango chutney, lime pickle, Raiti, yoghurt and mint etc., but I think you had to pay 5 CHF extra for pickles. I asked for some lime pickle and the waiter happily gave us some mixed pickle. I usually use these pickles and sauces to spice up the "dry" starters in Indian restaurants.
Loved the main course - I asked for chicken vindaloo and the missus ordered Chicken Tikka Masala which was pretty tasty. We asked for, and received, two delicious slightly crispy and buttered chapatis to help with the "free rice" provided. I did ask for extra hot vindaloo, but it was only quite hot, but very very tasty and perfect for me since it has been a while since I have had any spicy food.
Two Indian businessmen on another table had a totally vegetarian selection and it looked and sounded (from their comments) really nice. Will try this next time (Bhindi and Chick peas I think).
The decor was tastefully Indian and there was some nice music in the background.
Including a mineral water and coffee, the bill came to 82 CHF for two - not bad for CH and I think I got off quite lightly for a birthday meal.
We will go again quite soon. Maybe I will try the lunchtime 15 CHF special as well.
I think that it is definitely worth a visit if you live nearby - but I must admit that I was starving after using a jack hammer all day and have been dreaming of Indian nosh for weeks.
One thing I learned is that bus number 303 from Baden bus station does not stop at the restaurant, so we had to walk down from Badener Tor - only 5 minutes and downhill.
