| | | how to get rid of syringes.
So due to my sport I get from time to time some cauliflower ear, no big deal comes with the territory, This blood aglomeration needs to be drained otherwise you get very messed up ears.
I did it for the first time in CH, but have no clue as to how to dispose of the syringes.
Does anyone know where can I dispose of this syringes in Baden or ZH?

What sport do you play?

When my diabetic mother in law came to stay last year, she left her syringes here. I took them to the pharmacy who were more than happy to dispose of them for me.

I wouldn't follow the street junkies but I would rather go straight to the hospital and ask such question.

I see that a lot of the UFC guys just let their ears go cauli, I've also heard that the Russian fighters who don't have cauliflower ears actually break their ears in door hinges to give themselves cauli ears!! | | This user would like to thank JonnyLaRock! for this useful post: | |

AGREE. All pharmacies will have a yellow "sharpies box". They will be happy to take them for you.

I use them from time to time as it is annoying to grapple with it, and in IBJJF tournaments are forbidden ( as well as cups). I bought a new headset that I need to try out.
One of the UFC guys, Randy Couture, has such bad cauli that you'll have nightmares. He was a college wrestler and I believe he used headgear.
EDIT ADD:there are some guys in Rio that don't even practice the sport but break their ears anyway to look "tuff"

any lab will have a sharps container.
If you don't want to interact with people, go to the airport, the washrooms there have sharps disposal.

Instead you find syringes and blood all over the floor whenever you need to take a quick no. 1. More of a rant than a suggestion.

Sorry, maybe a stupid question - but how do the ears get affected when doing wrestling or equiv - are you allowed to pull the competitions ears?
(just imagining the pain ...it must hurt... ... hmm, is that why your username is ouchboy?)

I recently had to give myself anti-coagulant injections at home for a few days after surgery. These particular syringes had a thing that you pulled up to cover the used syringe. Once I did that, the nurse in the hospital told me to place the used syringe in a PET drink bottle, cap it and throw it out with the trash. I threw all of my syringes out in a San Pelligrino water bottle and put it in the bottom of the trash bag.

Constant rubbing against the kimono (gi), certain positions bend the ear. this provokes the cartilage to separate.
it is also common among rugby players

just drop them off in any farmacy. If you use them regularly, they also can provide you with a special "sharpie only" small recycle box, so you can dispose the used needles in there directly, and drop them together off when needed.

| | | Re: how to get rid of syringes. I think the most responsible thing to do is dispose of all syringes/cannulas in a yellow sharps box, (I believe this is true internationally). Cauliflower ear is a blunt force trauma injury, the cartilage of the ear itself does not have a vienus blood supply (no internal veins), it relies on the blood supply of the surrounding skin. if a severe blunt force trauma or continued friction causes a hematoma (blood blister) then the skin can be separated from the cartilage (balloons out) if this is not drained the cartilage will be starved of blood and will die, leaving a deformed ear. The fluid itself if left over about 5-7 days coagulates and produces a fiberous cartilage replacement - cauliflower ear. | |
