Would like to get some antibiotics quickly (Zurich)

I have been through the forums this morning but haven't found what I am looking for...

Pretty sure I have a sinus infection, and the only thing to knock it out is a course of antibiotics. I don't have a regular doctor in Zurich so wondering the quickest way to get seen for this sort of thing. Any recommendations for a clinic/doctor or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

fduvall

PS - It has been probably 10 years since I took any antibiotics so I don't ask for them at the first sign of a sniffle...

Pop down to the 'Permanence' doctor clinic at the Zurich hbf. There's lots of doctors and they would probably see you within an hour. All sorts of languages spoken. And it's a lot cheaper than a dentist...
There's a pharmacy next door for picking up prescriptions.

It's right beside the hbf post office.

Hope that helps.

Polorise - This looks interesting and good to know. I am familiar with the walk-in clinic that Bubbles suggests and it is similar to what I would do in the US if I needed something. With SOS Artze, do you know if it is comparably priced to a walk-in clinic? Do people call them for a check-up and anti-biotics? The website says yes. My insurance pays 100%, so cost not an issue, but I am but curious about this. Seems like the house call meets the 21st century.

No idea, have used something very similar in Bern, City Notfall, was seen & received a prescription in 30 mins for cortazone spray, covered by Krankengasse.
Good luck.

Second that... really efficient place, english is no prob. and they tell you up front what the basics will cost you, so no big surprises when you get billed.

I've gone to the notfall station at the Universitätspital a couple of times. They're really efficient (I was in and out in 50 minutes) and there is a pharmarcy right there. They are also really really friendly at that hospital and everyone speaks english.

The place at the main station in Zurich is excellent. Present your card and complain about your bose <sic>

I've been there with a suspected fracture of the tibial plateau and been well looked-after.

There is a walk-in clinic at the Cantonal Hospital (CHUV), and several other smaller clinics around. Any doctor's office that advertises permanence will see patients on a walk-in basis. There is a list of several clinics including contact information on the Lausanne city website.

Thank you heather, for your helpful reply!!! i just never know where to go and it's daunting when you can't speak the language. just yesterday i was at the apotheke and could not explain to them what i was looking for. sometimes an infection can't wait a few weeks!!

thanks a bunch,

Re: Would like to get some antibiotics quickly (Zurich)

If you know exactly what you need, you can try to go directly to a pharmacy and ask. I've done that a couple of times and got what I needed with no problem. I guess I gave them the impression I was a tourist...
