Hi,

I'm a homeschool tutor for an 13yr old American girl in Rolle (nr Geneva). Her parents and I would like to get her involved in more sporting activities with kids around her age, and so I'm wondering if anyone on here has any ideas.

We would prefer English speaking kids, as she only speak English, and for various reasons isn't likely to learn French for a while.

Well the ski season will be starting soon so joining in group lessons is an obvious idea.

Alternatively a girls soccer team might be a possibiliy as this is certainly a popular activity in the Zurich area.

Thanks... yep she will be skiing regularly from January. We would like something to fill the time between now and then.

Getting a few kids, that are in a similar position, together once a week, seems to me like a good idea. It would at least give them some regular social interaction with kids around their age.

I'm not sure there are that many English speaking girls football teams in this area. But, if you know of any. I guess 'we' could start one if enough kids were up for it!

You may want to look into the Swiss Alpine Club www.sac-cas.ch - they probably have a section in Geneva where they may even have a Kids Mountaineering Group as they do in my section. Our kids get together once a week for climbing at a gym and often go on weekends and camps together. If they are not so into the vertical world, I find that the local afternoon athletics that most towns offer for particular age groups are great for integrating kids in a fun environment (assuming the leader has a good handle and thread to the kids). Ask the town for info on athletic clubs. In addition, have a look at the Home School Association of Switzerland - here we run many events and connect members with similar interests (may be you would like to join?).
