Hi I am a new mom to be, looking for an english speaking Obstetrician in Zurich/Oerlikon.
I have never been through this before and want to feel comfortable with the experience. Any good reviews/ tips? On Doctors in the area?

My Mrs went to the ETH hospital and she had a great person taking care of her. Dr Kramen. She is the second most senior person there and very amicable and speaks English too !

I think you will need at least semi-private to have an audience with her though

Have you thought about what sort of care you want for the birth ?

It's possible to have your care done by a midwife rather than seeing an obstetrician....

I guess it depends also on which hospital, what health insurance and your care requirements...

It's daunting...There are plenty of threads with recommendations, but what suits one woman doesn't necessarily fit another - but what you will find around Zurich is that there are plenty of specialists who speak english...

I am going private, so bethaniam Clinic is most likely.
I just want recommendations for good Obstetricians in the area. A good friendly experience. I am Canadian and the culture does differ here.

Hi, was seeing a great gyno here, she's on the 33 bus in Zurich. Had 2 pregnancies here, here "assistant" is great, they both speak brilliant English, very friendly, and very supportive - was emailing this morning in fact for advice. Message me if you want her details.

My doctor (dr. Annett rake ) is in kreis 6 (schaffhauserplatz) and is absolutely amazing. We spoke English with a bit of German. Her whole team is so supportive and she is truely fantastic. I also saw dr kraehnmann at uni spital. She is top notch, but in my experience, is much better to have a dr with their own practice rather than trying to get appointments with the same uni spital dr very time, it can be pretty chaotic over there, and the better the dr, the harder it is to get them to see you regularly.

Thanks for everyones help, I ended up finding a great obstetrician that works out of two private hospitals in Zurich.
Met her first time yesterday and I was very happy!
